Disk locked by password (after interruption of wiping process)

Modified on Wed, 27 Dec, 2023 at 11:03 AM

In case if password prompt appeared after TotalWipeout wiping process was interrupted (battery died, the power went down) try this:

The password is 'q' 8 times.

In Total WipeOut:

  • press Alt+F2 to switch to console,
  • type the command:

                hdparm --user-master u --security-disable qqqqqqqq /dev/sda

        or

                hdparm --user-master u --security-unlock qqqqqqqq /dev/sda

where 'qqqqqqqq' is the password value.

  • Press Alt+F1 to return back to BCWipe TWO screen.

If the drive was locked by BCWipe this should unlock it.
